Sally Lynch, LMFT

Build a strong sense of self-worth and learn to love yourself with evidence-based self-esteem counseling techniques.Sally Lynch specializes in helping clients create more effective behavior in relationships with themselves and others, ending problematic relational patterns, and creating new ways of relating to themselves and others. She utilizes therapeutic relational safety to create a felt experience of safety for her clients, then helps them identify and utilize new experiences of relationship safety to heal and recover from trauma. She is also skilled in trauma-informed therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and breath work. 

Lynch is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and Hawaii. She earned a Master's degree in Psychology from Phillips Graduate University in Chatsworth, California, where she specialized in Co-occurring Disorders as part of the Marriage and Family Therapy Program. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Education from Central Washington University in Wenatchee, Washington, with a major in K-6 Elementary Education and a minor in K-12 Special Education.

Lynch has extensive experience working with individuals, couples, and families in various settings, including private practice, community mental health centers, and substance use disorder treatment facilities. She currently works as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Mediator and Custody Evaluator at Love & Alvarez Psychology, Inc. in San Diego. She has completed 40 hours of required training to become a Custody Evaluator and has materially assisted Dr. Lori Love with four custody evaluations, including two relocation cases. Lynch has also attended the Advanced Training in Child Custody Evaluation Writing Workshop with the Association of Family And Conciliation Courts, where she worked with experts in the field to explore key factors when considering the best interest of the child and child-centered decision-making trees. Lynch specializes in:

Throughout her career, Lynch has provided therapy to individuals, couples, and families impacted by divorce, high-conflict relationships, relational wounding, inter-relational trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, acute stress disorder, depression, anxiety, and severe relational wounding. She has also worked with clients presenting with co-occurring morbidities, including anxiety, depression, personality disorders, bipolar I & II, and substance use disorders.

Lynch is dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care to her clients. She is committed to ongoing professional development and has completed numerous continuing education courses in recent years, including training in suicide assessment, firearm violence prevention, law and ethics for working with suicidal clients, intimate partner violence custody evaluation, and resist-refuse dynamics in family court cases. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the San Diego California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, the San Diego Psychological Association, the Association of Family and Conciliatory Courts (AFCC), and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
