Finding Clarity and Balance

Parent Coordination

Helping Families Reduce Conflict and Focus on What Matters Most

Parent coordination is a specialized service designed to assist separated or divorced parents in managing ongoing conflicts and improving communication, all while keeping the focus on their child’s best interests. As a trained and court-approved Parent Coordinator, I work with families to ease co-parenting stress, minimize litigation, and support more peaceful, cooperative parenting.

What Is a Parent Coordinator?

A Parent Coordinator (PC) is a neutral professional—typically appointed by the court or agreed upon by both parties—who helps parents resolve day-to-day disputes related to custody and parenting time. Unlike therapy or mediation, parent coordination is a structured, child-focused process designed to improve co-parenting dynamics and implement the parenting plan effectively.

When to Consider Parent Coordination

Parent coordination may be appropriate when:

  • Parents have frequent or intense disagreements over parenting decisions
  • There are difficulties following the court-ordered parenting plan
  • Communication between parents is strained or ineffective
  • A neutral third party is needed to help implement decisions and reduce litigation

The ultimate goal is to reduce the child’s exposure to parental conflict and promote healthier family functioning.

What to Expect

As your Parent Coordinator, I may:

  • Facilitate communication between parents in a constructive, respectful way
  • Clarify and interpret parenting plans or court orders
  • Assist with decision-making on day-to-day parenting issues
  • Offer guidance on child development and emotional needs
  • Make recommendations, or in some cases, decisions on minor disputes, depending on the court order

All coordination is conducted with a firm commitment to neutrality, child-centered guidance, and practical conflict resolution.

Benefits for Children and Parents

When parents can reduce conflict and communicate more effectively, children benefit. They experience less emotional stress, more consistent routines, and a stronger sense of security. Parent coordination offers tools and support to help parents transition from conflict to cooperation—one step at a time.
